Does it really work?  When you haven’t experienced acupuncture, it is usually hard to imagine that placing tiny needles into various points on the body could possibly do anything substantial. It is hard to trust something you haven’t yet experienced.  In my ninth year of practicing with the medicine, I can confidently say that it does work, whether or not we completely understand how.

Even if it does work, is a medicine that uses needles really worth it? Many people have had painful experiences with shots or giving blood. The needles used in acupuncture are dramatically smaller than the needles used by your doctor.  Acupuncture needles are flimsy, and hair-thin and create a very different sensation.  Even when people are uncomfortable at the idea of acupuncture, they are soon relaxing on the table during their treatment.

Benefits of Acupuncture

Many people who are new to acupuncture have a lot of questions about it. Acupuncture is great for pain relief and sports injury & prevention, and it also addresses many imbalances caused by lifestyle, stress and illness.  Acupuncture helps to improve digestion, energy and sleep.  It helps relieve symptoms of allergies, headaches, migraines and the impact of stress.  Acupuncture also supports fertility & pregnancy (including with assisted reproductive technologies such as IUI & IVF), symptoms of menopause, anxiety & depression.  It also provides a non-invasive and healthy way to enhance vitality and a youthful appearance with facial cosmetic acupuncture.

Your Appointments

The initial visit will be about an hour and 15-30 minutes.  In this visit, we discuss your entire health history. Follow up sessions last for 50-60 minutes. You will complete forms before you come in and we will talk further about what is going on for you. In each session, I will feel your pulse and look at your tongue. This will provide more information about what is going on in your body from a Chinese Medicine perspective.
